Atlanta ranked as one of the major cities with the highest percentage of users that don’t live in Atlanta searching for homes in the area. According to Redfin, the top cities where users were searching for Atlanta homes were from the following:

  • Washington, D.C.: 13.0 percent
  • New York City: 10.5 percent
  • Los Angeles: 10.0 percent
  • Chicago: 8.4 percent
  • Bay Area: 6.8 percent

Redfin found that Texas was one of the most popular states for searches from other major cities. The combination of affordable housing, local economies and job opportunities in Houston continues to be a drawn.

The website also found that four out of five people searching for homes across the country were looking within their current city. Atlanta ranked as one of the top cities where residents are looking to stay as 90 percent of its users searched for homes within the city.
