Ri’Shaun Brathwaite, Realtor, PalmerHouse Properties

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? Before going into real estate, my most interesting job was working in a jail. I worked with a local government in the Clerk’s office and part of my job was to attend first appearance hearings within the County jail.

Where did you grow up? I was born in Atlanta and raised in East Point, GA!

Growing up, what did you want to be? Growing up I wanted to be a gynecologist. I always had interest in being able to help young women. Keep them educated on their sexual health and learning how to love yourself at a young age. I felt with me becoming a gynecologist would definitely allow me to do both!

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I light candles! I love the smell of a good concentrated candle that warms your whole entire space!

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? If I could meet any well-known figure it would have to be Missy Elliot. I grew up loving and listening to her music. I love how when she first started in the industry she did not fit into a “status quo”. She was herself, unique and talented! I would love to sit down and have lunch with her and vibe to some of her greatest hits!

What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret? Atlanta’s best-kept secret? Me of course! I am new to the Atlanta real estate industry, but I am a force to be reckoned with! Stay tuned!

What do you love most about the industry? I love the fact that I can be me! I am able to help others in my own way without any limits! The real estate industry allows you to meet those from all walks of life and I love the opportunity to interact with others!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? How I distinguish myself from the crowd of agents is being me! I am unique, I am confident, but at the same time I am humble. I allow my personality and excellent Southern hospitality speak for itself!

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The most difficult aspect of my job is learning when to stop working. I am always told I’m always on my phone. Lol! I have late nights where I am up helping clients to find homes or interacting and engaging with others to obtain new clients.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? My best advice for generating new leads is to take advantage of social media. I’ve met quite a few agents who shy away from social media platforms. But these days social media is definitely our best friend!

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? Lately I have been watching Power Book II and binge watched P-Valley! I love a good, raunchy, no holds barred show!

What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta? My favorite meal in Atlanta is J.R. Crickets in Union City! I love their chicken wings and crab legs!!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? My favorite building architecturally in Atlanta? I love the architecture of quite a few buildings in the city! Atlanta has such a beautiful array of structures especially when you’re heading into the city.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? The weirdest thing that happened to me on the job was going to show a home that had an active alarm. There was no notification on the listing of the alarm. I opened the door and it went down hill from there. The police came out and all! The neighbors were all out ! Very embarrassing!!

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you? One thing that people are surprised to learn about me is that I am from Atlanta. Most people I meet think that I am from New York or a northern state.
