Name: Tracy Queen
Title: Realtor and Associate Broker
Company: Atlanta Communities Real Estate
What was your first job in the realty industry? Agent; Realtor
Where did you grow up? Rock Hill, SC
Growing up, what did you want to be? Mostly, a parent.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Depends on the time of day! During the workday, I stop and ask myself, “Okay, what am I really stressed about? What is actually the problem (if any!)?” In the evening, I just pour a glass of wine!
If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Why? So I could thank him for the impact of his leadership before I was even born!
Where is your favorite place to hang out? Our deck with friends or their deck with them!
What do you love most about the industry? I love Real Estate Agents. I don’t think agents are known for their critical role in the quality of our lives, and greatly, their (our) role in the economy. Particularly, after the 2008 collapse. Consumers were clueless in how to navigate the conditions. Agents were too! But bucked up to learn and guide through the uncertainty. Real Estate Agents rock.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Well, first going back to the last question, I distinguish myself by fostering an appreciation, respect and affinity for my colleagues. I say that is a critical benefit to my clients. Engendering cooperation and good will transforms the transaction from a “transaction” to memorable life experience.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Keeping the business coming! After 17 years, I’m now doing the stuff I should’ve done in the beginning! I’m branding myself including creating striking new signage and other media that my clients can be proud to have in their front yards and on their kitchen counter-tops. I would say having the discipline to maintain the basics is most challenging for me.
Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Although, I don’t “talk shop” everywhere I go, I definitely network and meet new clients literally, wherever I am. I can’t help but to extend myself and my view of a given market when the topic comes up… which is almost everyday.
What has been your greatest accomplishment? Probably raising my children. They’re only 9 and 11 but they’re amazing, responsible, fun-loving AND socially conscious kids. I’m very proud of that.
What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? A few but one that stands out “Hidden Figures.” My girlfriends and I couldn’t hold back the tears!
What is your favorite restaurant? Murphy’s. Love it.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? Probably the Fox. Although, my kids and I have to shout “hey, it’s the King and Queen buildings” every time they come in view!
What kind of car do you drive? Toyota Sequoia and to offset that foot print – Prius. We have an older Lexus Sedan for special occasions!
Smartphone or paper? Smartphone
What is your favorite city after Atlanta? Asheville, NC – big difference, I know!
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Get a mentor. Don’t go it alone!
What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? SupraEkey… that an app? 😉
Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? NPR and that crew
