Pat Riley, president and chief operating officer of Allen Tate Companies, has been elected to a two-year term as chairman of the board of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (LeadingRE), a global network of more than 500 market-leading independent real estate firms with 3,500 offices and 120,000 sales associates in 52 countries around the world.

Riley was installed at the organization’s annual conference held February 9-13 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

LeadingRE represents more home sales than any other real estate network. The organization provides its affiliates with an extensive range of brokerage services, which include lead generation, cross-market referrals, branding support, luxury marketing, online exposure, technology systems, and industry-leading professional development.

“I am honored to share my passion and vision with this extraordinary organization. LeadingRE allows independently owned real estate firms to market listings across the world, while strengthening their local brands,” Riley said. “In the past 12 months, LeadingRE has welcomed 60 new member firms that recognize the unique value we offer, aligning them with other premier firms and allowing them to tap into global capabilities and resources, while remaining independent.”

“Pat Riley has been instrumental to our organization’s growth since our founding in 1997,” said LeadingRE President and CEO Pam O’Connor. “Pat is an innovative and progressive businessman, whose insights have helped our network become the global real estate powerhouse it is today.”

The honor is the latest addition to a list of impressive industry and civic contributions by Riley, who began his real estate career in 1972 in Lancaster, Pa., and joined Allen Tate Companies in 1992. He currently serves in leadership roles with Charlotte Center City Partners; Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Foundation; Centralina Council of Governments Connect Our Future team; NC Business Leaders for Education Reform (Best NC); Central Piedmont Community College President’s Council; and Boy Scouts of America, Mecklenburg County Council.

Riley’s past board affiliations include chairman of the Charlotte Chamber; chairman of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Arts and Science Council, chairman of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Schools Foundation and chairman of the Greater Charlotte Cultural Trust.

He is the recipient of multiple national, state and local awards, including the Old North State Award from the Office of the Governor of North Carolina and the Chairman’s Service Award from LeadingRE.
