Allan Minter
Senior Sales Associate
Dorsey Alston Realtors
Allan Minter, senior sales associate at Dorsey Alston Realtors and industry veteran, is known for his steadfast loyalty to his clients — from the initial meeting through the end of the sale. As noted in his abundance of five-star reviews, his clients see him as an advisor rather than a salesman and rave about his patience, easygoing nature and dedication to his craft.
Minter specializes in the Metro Atlanta market — primarily Cobb, DeKalb and Fulton. He works with a wide range of buyers, sellers and investors, many of whom are from the the film and arts industries or are employed by major Atlanta-based companies such as Delta, Coca Cola, Home Depot and Cox Media.
“My business is by referral only,” he says. “That’s how my mentor, Phebe Etheridge, handled her business and that’s what I’ve always wanted for mine.” You’ll never see an Allan Minter billboard, but you will hear about him from his clients.
Prior to having what he refers to as his “a-ha moment” about his future in real estate, Minter was in advertising sales at the Atlanta Journal. But 16 years ago, he decided that he wanted a career that provided him with more freedom — one that would allow him to recreate for others the thrill he experienced after closing on his first home. “That feeling of excitement, and the start of something new — that was the feeling I wanted to bring to my clients,” he says.
For Minter, this past year was about learning how to work “smarter” while still hitting his annual goal. He’s projected to close over $14 million in 2017. “You realize what’s important as you get older and you expend your energy on what matters most,” he says, adding that in his case, it’s his wife, Ana, and daughter, Stella. Minter was also able to close on more personal investments near the Atlanta Beltline’s Westside Trail.
Minter enjoyed a banner year in 2017. He broke his own record in closing off market deals, homes that never even make it to the MLS. He attributes this to word-of-mouth networking in a short inventory market. “As high-tech as our industry is today, word of mouth is still king,” Minter says.
“It’s ironic because my biggest sales accomplishment this year happens to be my smallest sale,” he says of the transaction. “It wasn’t about the money; it was about doing the right thing.” Minter bought a home back for his client, a disabled veteran, after he was wrongfully foreclosed on by the bank. “My client was ecstatic and it felt good to get him back into his rightful home,” he says.
Minter is a member of the Atlanta Board of Realtors, the Georgia Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors and is a consistent Top Producer, Individual Agent Category from the Atlanta Board. He is also an Accredited Buyer Representative, Certified Relocation Specialist, and was awarded the coveted Phoenix Award from the Atlanta Board of Realtors in 2012 for achieving 10 consecutive years in the Million Dollar Club.
Minter has years of dog rescue service under his belt and currently serves as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. “Being able to help build a home for and with those who are more in need, and seeing the look on their faces once the keys are delivered, is pretty priceless,” he says.
