Name: Apria Brown

Title: Global Property Specialist

Company: Keller Williams Atlanta Perimeter

What was your first job in the realty industry? Working for my dad sitting on site for new construction

Where did you grow up? Fayetteville, GA

Growing up, what did you want to be? OBGYN, until I realized I don’t like seeing blood

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Travel, foot reflexology

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I’d love to have lunch with Janet Jackson. I’ve looked up to her since I was very young and her ability to just live and be in the present I would really like to have a conversation with her just about life, family and values.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? On the BeltLine

What do you love most about the industry? There is no ceiling — the opportunities are limitless.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? Aside from my obvious always cheerful smile, I blend my love for travel into my business model and represent many buyers who are not local to Atlanta. I also have really great events and strong relationships with my colleagues and clients.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The emotion that comes with transactions, especially when it doesn’t go as smooth as everyone hopes. I am invested just as much as the client so sometimes it is really hard to debrief from a tough transaction.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Everywhere, but my favorite new place is the courthouse steps on Auction Tuesdays. There are many qualified buyers and investors all in one place.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Starting my nonprofit to teach life skills to youth in underserved areas

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? Deadly Illusions

What is your favorite restaurant? Houston’s

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta? The King and Queen Buildings by the Perimeter. I want ownership of them one day.

What kind of car do you drive? I don’t have a car, I am in a car club and change cars monthly. I currently have a black Volvo X60.

Smartphone or paper? Both. I still really like to write when brainstorming, and use smartphone for most everything else.

What is your favorite city after Atlanta? San Francisco, CA

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Read the real estate Bible, Millionaire Real Estate Agent.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? My own personalized KW app. You can search for homes in whatever area you are in by distance as well as regular searches. You can also connect directly with a Realtor from the app.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? @huffingtonpost, @pontifex, and @fredrikeklundNY
