For the eighth straight year, Atlanta was named the top moving destination by Penske Truck Rental. In fact, no other city has topped the rankings since the company began publicly listing annual numbers.
To come up with the rankings, Penske tracked one-way truck reservations made for every city in the country. Cities in the South dominated the top five, with Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston and Tampa/Sarasota making the list.
“Our own data, compiled from do-it-yourself moves across the country, mirror the country’s migration and areas of growth,” explained Don Mikes, Penske’s senior vice president of rental.
Portland, Oregon, made its first appearance on the list, and Houston made the largest jump going from No. 9 to No. 4
The top 10 cities in 2017 are:
