May home sales statistics for Atlanta reveal an “energized” market with “actively engaged” buyers and sellers, according to a report from Georgia MLS.
The results lag behind May 2019 numbers, but the report notes substantial month-over-month increases of 34.9% in pending sales and 14.1% in new listings.
Georgia MLS reported 6,477 residential sales in Atlanta for the month, down 273 units (4%) from April. Sales were down 32.4% from May 2019.
Under-contract listings were up a whopping 34.9% from April, ending the month at 11,733. That’s down a mere 6.4% from May 2019, according to the report.
The total sales volume for the month was $1.97 billion, down 6.4% from April.

Atlanta inventory totaled 19,405 units in May, up 5% from the previous month but down 9.3% from the previous year.
New residential listings were up 14.1% from the previous month for a total of 10,795 units.
The median sales price declined $8,000 (3%), to $257,000 from the previous month and increased 1.6% from last year when the price was $253,000.
