What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I loved teaching math for 10 years, but my most interesting job was a corporate trainer. I led seminars over all over the country and taught time management and speed reading.
Where did you grow up?
Springfield, IL: hometown of Abraham Lincoln.
Growing up, what did you want to be?
An astronaut or scientist.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Go for a long walk or work out.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Abraham Lincoln. Having grown up in his hometown, I have always admired his humor as well as his intellect.
What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret?
East Palisades, Whitewater Creek. So peaceful and great place to hike.
What do you love most about the industry?
Meeting and helping people.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I live beyond the Golden Rule. I use the Platinum Rule, which states: Treat people the way they want to be treated.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Working with people who do not follow through in their jobs when dealing with my clients.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Be yourself and be helpful and listen.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I am learning bridge and can binge on online bridge games.
What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta?
The Lobster Bar at Chops in Buckhead.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta?
I think the King and Queen towers, at Interstate 285 and Georgia 400, are great.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
I was giving my clients a “housewarming party.” Then the home caught on fire during the party and burnt to the ground… will never forget that one!
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
That I was a AA tennis player.
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Rome, Italy. I loved the food, the people and the ancient history.
What is your favorite city after Atlanta?
Coronado, CA, near San Diego. My cousin lives there and I love the lifestyle.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Get a good CRM software and use it! Set up systems for every task you do. And network! Network! Network!

Cam Card to keep track of business cards I receive from people.

Lee Brown, a fellow agent in Charlotte, and Father Mike with Bible in a Year.
