The average American spends roughly $1,700 on their monthly rent, according to a new report from RentCafe. But how far does that budget stretch across the ZIP codes that make up the Atlanta metropolitan area?
RentCafe analyzed apartment sizes in ZIP codes across the country to determine which areas give the typical renter the most bang for their buck. In Atlanta, renters can get the most apartment in the southwest Atlanta ZIP code of 30311, where a $1,700 monthly budget garners 1,374 square feet of space.
Conversely, Atlantans get the least space in the Midtown ZIP code of 30309, where $1,700 only gets you 669 square feet — well below the national average of 944 square feet.
As seen in the map of Atlanta’s ZIP codes, renters are more likely to find smaller apartments on a $1,700 budget in the center of the city, with space increasing further away from downtown, especially in the southern part of the metro area.
