The term “living room renovation” was Googled 629,832 times per month. The data indicates that Americans are most interested in updating their living rooms.
Examining those monthly Google searches, a new study from Storyboards, a photo wall company, details the most common home renovation projects across America, as well as the states where those renovation projects are most popular.
The top home renovation projects searches over the past 12 months
1. Living room (629,832 average monthly searches)
2. Bathroom (620,253 average monthly searches)
3. Kitchen (411,130 average monthly searches)
4. Bedroom (323,297 average monthly searches)
5. Backyard (141,728 average monthly searches)
“There are a number of reasons that people may want to renovate their homes, whether that be to increase its value, or to simply make it more comfortable and enjoyable to live in”, Storyboards Co-Founder Gavin Click said, reflecting on the data. “And with home renovation and interior design trends constantly changing, it’s understandable that people want to refresh and upgrade their homes to make the most use out of their existing space”
States with the most popular for home renovation were, in order:
1. New Jersey (903 average monthly searches)
2. Connecticut (851 average monthly searches)
3. Massachusetts (843 average monthly searches)
4. Maryland (839 average monthly searches)
5. New York (804 average monthly searches)
Sunny Georgia, however, ranked No. 3 for interest in bedroom renovations. Per 100,000 monthly searches, it was googled 114 times.
