Centennial Yards beefs up leadership team as work on $5 billion megaproject gains steam

by John Yellig

Centennial Yards Co., the master developer behind the $5 billion, 50-acre city-center development downtown, has expanded its senior leadership team with the hiring of Ben Reeves as vice president of transaction strategy.

In his new role, Reeves will help source and structure transactions with tenants, partners and developers. He previously served as senior vice president of Stream Realty Partners, where he helped oversee investment and development strategy at Centennial Yards South, the repurposed turn-of-the-century railroad buildings that opened last year as the first phase of the development.

“What we called the Gulch was a remnant of Atlanta’s railroad past,” Reeves said in a press release. “Centennial Yards is an extrinsic symbol of Atlanta’s future. I’m thrilled to be joining this accomplished team and excited to continue the work on one of the most important projects in our city’s history. This project is weaving together the filaments of the past into a vibrant, connected and inspired Downtown.”

When completed, Centennial Yards will bring eight million square feet of new retail, entertainment, office, residential and hotel space and several new city blocks to the former site of the Gulch. Anchored by State Farm Arena and Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Centennial Yards will also increase the downtown area’s public spaces with numerous new outdoor amenities.

“I’m extremely excited to have Ben bring his passion for Downtown Atlanta to our senior leadership team,” Centennial Yards President Brian McGowan said. “As we enter the next critical phase of the project, his extensive real estate experience in Atlanta and his work on Centennial Yards South over the past four years will help us accelerate the delivery of this transformational development.”
