The Future is Bright for New Construction in Atlanta

Metro Atlanta’s new construction markets are positioned for growth

By 2017, Forsyth County will be Metro Atlanta’s top new construction market for single-family homes, according to a new analysis of the area’s construction trends.

Based on projections by the Georgia State University Economic Forecast Center, there will be roughly 4,027 single-family building permits in Forsyth County in 2017, more than even Fulton and Gwinnett County.

Below, we’ve charted how Metro Atlanta’s various counties have performed, in terms of building permits, the last couple of years:

As you can see, Forsyth has already seen steady growth in the last year, and as of 2015’s third quarter, it was second only to Gwinnett in permit activity.

Below, we’ve charted where building permits are heading the next two years:

Notice how every county is seeing growth in new construction over the next two years, some by sizable amounts. Cherokee, for instance, may see permits jump 29.97 percent from 2015 to 2017, while Forsyth and Gwinnett will see increases of 29.95 and 12.35 percent, respectively.
