The Metro Atlanta area is one of the most popular in the U.S. for new residents, according to an analysis from Abodo.com.
Based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2015 American Community Survey, Abodo found that new residents comprise 7.65 percent of Metro Atlanta’s population, which is the sixth-highest in the nation.
This chart details Abodo’s top 10 more fully:
Metro Area | Percent of Population – New Residents |
---|---|
Virginia Beach | 10.53% |
Denver | 9.44% |
Richmond | 8.90% |
Austin | 8.28% |
Oklahoma City | 7.72% |
Atlanta | 7.65% |
Nashville | 7.51% |
Portland | 7.28% |
Jacksonville | 7.27% |
Orlando | 6.94% |
Interestingly, Atlanta was also in the top 10 for metros that lose a large share of their population. With 7.46 percent of its residents leaving, Atlanta came in at No. 5.
However, given that Atlanta is one of the most active relocation markets in the country, such a balancing act is hardly surprising.
