Total home sales and the median price of those sales in the Atlanta area dipped in August from the previous month, but the market largely maintained its forward momentum from a year ago, according to Georgia MLS‘ monthly Housing Market Snapshot report.
The 12-county report, which includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale, revealed that the median sales price dropped 2.6% to $340,000 from the previous month. Despite the slight month-over-month dip, the median sales price was still up 18.3% from the same time last year, when the median price was $287,400.
The report also noted that the total sales volume of $3 billion in August was up 8.2% from a year ago but down 9.6% from July.
