Compass Atlanta launched a new Black @ Compass Chapter that will seek to celebrate the racial diversity of the firm’s employees and invest in the black community.
The group also aims to highlight racial discrepancies in the real estate industry and initiate change.
“We help people find and sell their homes, and we also want everyone to feel at home,” Compass Atlanta said in a press release. “We simply cannot achieve that goal without a deep and ongoing commitment to diversify our employee community, vendor networks and agent roster; collaborate inclusively at every level; promote equity inside and outside our walls; and foster belonging in every interaction we have with each other and those we serve.”
The chapter, which will meet quarterly, launched with a kickoff networking event at High Note on top of Atlanta’s Moxie Hotel. Two agents from the Compass New York office attended.
“We are in the business of people and that includes all people,” office lead and founding member of Black @ Compass Atlanta Cassy Pierre said. “My inspiration in creating this chapter was the shared feeling of a lack of community for the employees and agents that look like me. Real estate has not always been an inclusive industry, but things are shifting. Although it is difficult at times to ask for a change that is needed, Compass made me feel empowered to build this community, and I am excited for the impact we will have in Atlanta.”
Glad to hear about the new company.
