Atlanta-area home sales swung to negative territory in April after posting an almost 30% month-over-month gain in March, while the number of homes on the market jumped almost 20%.
There were 6,431 residences sold in April, a 6.1% drop from the 6,846 homes sold in March and a 14.8% decline from the 7,544 homes sold in April 2021, Georgia MLS reported, citing its monthly Housing Market Snapshot.
Active listings rose 19.9% on a monthly basis and 6.4% on a yearly one to 6,358.
The 8,158 new listings in April represented a 1.7% monthly decline and a 15.3% annual decline. March sales volume by dollar amount slid 1% month over month to $3.02 billion. Year over year, sales were up 1.1%.
The median sale price continued to climb, rising 4.1% month over month to $394,000. Year over year, the price was up 21.7%.
Georgia MLS’ 12-county report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
