Atlanta-based land developer Blue River Development LLC hired industry veteran Geoffrey Reid as a strategic partner.
Reid was most recently at American Homes 4 Rent, where he led a team that closed more than $3 billion in single-family rental projects across the Southeast, including in Atlanta; Charleston, S.C.; and Jacksonville, Orlando and Tampa, Florida. Before that, Reid served as vice president of land acquisition for Century Communities, where he spearheaded the homebuilder’s Atlanta land acquisitions.
“In my 22-year career, I’ve never seen a better land guy than Geoffrey,” Blue River Managing Principal Brad Cooper said. “His exceptional skills make him the perfect fit for the dream team we are building. His extensive experience in land acquisition for major players in the Southeast is a valuable addition to our growing team. We anticipate his unique perspective and approach, honed while working for developers and build-to-rent companies, will have a domino effect on our success.”
Reid is the third major hire Blue River has announced in the last month. The company plans to begin developing 6,000 lots next year.
Reid holds a master’s degree in project management from The Citadel and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia. He lives in Woodstock with his wife and two children.
