Members of the class of 2023 could improve their chances of landing a successful career with a move to Atlanta, according to a new Wallethub study, which named the city the best place to start a career.
The personal-finance website looked at 182 U.S. cities based on two major dimensions — professional opportunities and quality of life — which were in turn evaluated on 26 different metrics.
Professional opportunities included the availability of entry-level jobs, monthly average starting salaries, annual job-growth rate, unemployment rate, workforce diversity and job satisfaction; quality of life metrics included median annual income, commuter-friendly jobs, family and singles friendliness and projected population growth.
Atlanta, which ranked second for professional opportunities and seventh for quality of life, was followed in the overall ranking by Orlando, Florida; Salt Lake City; and Columbia, S.C., while Newark, N.J.; Gulfport, Mississippi; and New York ranked the lowest.
