You can find ultra-luxury homes for sale in every corner of the U.S. But how do we actually define what counts as an expensive sale when prices vary so widely from one place to the next?
Point2Homes analyzed listings in every U.S. state and Washington, D.C., to determine the most-expensive homes for sale in each. The real estate research site then ranked each state based upon its priciest listing.
Of course, the priciest homes in certain states dwarf those of others. The most-expensive home for sale in all of Nebraska, ranked No. 51, costs $3,890,000 — only 1.5% of the cost of the most-expensive listing in No. 1-ranked California, which is listed for $250 million.
Georgia ranked No. 15, with its most-expensive home on the market currently listed for $46.8 million. Located at 4665 Riverview Road in Sandy Springs, the 17,776-square-foot home offers 11 bathrooms, seven bedrooms, a primary suite encompassing an entire floor, an art gallery, a four-room gym and spa. Also known as Chestnut Hall for its rare chestnut oaks, the limestone and brick European-inspired mansion boasts a collection of 18th- and 19th-century statues.
The luxury property was listed by Debbie Leonard of The Debbie Leonard Group.
