Blue River Development has brought on commercial and residential real estate veteran Brent Shearer as its newest strategic partner. The move follows several other additions earlier this year. 

In his new role, Shearer will be responsible for finding new land opportunities as the Atlanta-based developer enters new markets and expands in Florida, the Carolinas, Texas, Nashville and Atlanta. Shearer will source raw land, entitled land and finished lots for single-family, for-sale communities and build-to-rent ventures. 

“Brent’s extensive experience and proven track record in homebuilding and land development, combined with his keen business development skills, make him a valuable addition to our team,” Blue Ridge Managing Principal Michael Cooper said in an announcement. “We’re excited about the fresh perspectives and new opportunities he will bring.” 

Before Blue Ridge, Shearer was a partner at Blake Communities, where he managed a substantial portfolio of lots acquired during the economic downturn and established the Florida-based company’s Atlanta office. Before that, Shearer was an associate at Situs Companies, where he worked with over $3 billion of CMBS loans. 

Shearer holds a B.A. in real estate from the University of Georgia and an M.S. in real estate from Georgia State University.
