Jim Chapman Construction Group President Jim Chapman recently won the Lewis Cenker Award from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (GAHBA).

The award is the group’s highest honor and is given annually to recognize an individual’s lifelong contributions to and achievements in the housing industry. The accolade is named after Lewis Cenker, the only GAHBA member to serve as president of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

“Jim Chapman’s dedication to the advancement and protection of the home building industry is both inspirational and transformational,” said Corey Deal, executive officer of GAHBA, in a release. “His involvement and leadership at local, state and national levels has significantly advanced our industry.”

Chapman served as GAHBA’s president in 2018 and remains a key figure on the Atlanta 55+ Housing Council, earning the status of Life Board Member. At the state level, he served as President of the Home Builders Association of Georgia in 2021 and, nationally, chaired several NAHB committees.

“This award reflects my lifelong journey in an industry that I am passionate about and truly honored to be a part of,” said Chapman. “It’s not just about building homes; it’s about creating communities and making a lasting impact.”

Stewart named GAHBA Council Chair of the Year

Separately, GAHBA named Denim Marketing Vice President of Client Services Courtney Stewart its 2023 Council Chair of the Year for her work leading the Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council in 2023.

“Courtney’s work with the Professional Women in Building Council has been outstanding,” Deal said in another GAHBA announcement. “Her ability to foster a community where ideas thrive and members feel valued is commendable. Courtney’s efforts have strengthened the council and significantly contributed to the advancement of women in our industry.”
