GAMLS: Atlanta home sales rise almost 10% in December

The pace of home sales in the Atlanta area posted healthy gains on both a monthly and yearly basis in December, according to the latest Georgia MLS 12-county Housing Market Snapshot.

By units, sales were up 9% month over month and 9.4% year over year, at 4,394, compared to 4,031 homes sold in November and 4,015 homes sold in December 2023. By dollar amount, sales were up 8.9% month over month and 13.3% year over year, at $2.15 billion.

The median sales price of $400,000 represented a 1.3% gain from November’s $395,000 level and was up 4.7% from the $382,000 price of December 2023.

New listings fell 15.1% month over month and rose 26.1% year over year to 5,386. Active listings, meanwhile, were down 8.2% on a monthly basis but up 44.7% on a yearly one, at 16,488 listings.

Georgia MLS’ 12-county report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
