A vast majority of apartments in Atlanta welcome furry friends, according to a report from RentCafe.
Researchers tallied the number of apartment listings that accommodate pets on RentCafe’s site, finding that 89.9% of Atlanta rental properties qualified as pet-friendly. With 0.8 pet-friendly rentals per 1,000 residents, there’s an above-average amount of pet-friendly homes to go around compared to the national rate of 0.45 units per 1,000 residents.
Costs associated with pet ownership in Atlanta remain relatively low: Pet rent runs renters an average of $28.03 per month in Atlanta. The national average is $36.
These benefits placed Atlanta at No. 10 in the South and No. 19 nationwide for pet-friendly living. Several other Atlanta-area cities also scored well — Decatur took the No. 2 spot with an impressive 1.7 pet-friendly units per 1,000 people, while Lawrenceville placed No. 3 and Alpharetta ranked No. 9.
