John T. Markham, Senior Vice President, Regional Sales Manager

Rate NMLS # 213964

Drawn to a career in lending by his passion for real estate and people, John Markham recognized that mortgages are not just about numbers but also about helping families secure homes, build wealth and create stability. “That combination of financial expertise and human connection really resonated with me,” he shares. “I saw lending as a platform where I could make a meaningful impact while also building strong business teams.”

A senior vice president and regional sales manager with Rate, Markham has been in the industry for 20 years. Specializing in strategic growth planning for teams and branches across the Southeast, he recruits, develops and leads high-performing loan officers. He works with thousands of clients every year and is currently the leader of 13 branches.

A member of the Rate President’s Club, Markham credits his accomplishments to his ability to build, retain and inspire exceptional teams. “In lending, products and rates are often similar, but the differentiator is the people,” he explains. “My success comes from recruiting the right talent, coaching them to their potential and fostering a culture where loan officers and operations teams feel supported, valued and empowered to grow.” Despite the challenging year in real estate and mortgage markets, many loan officers within his region grew their businesses, experiencing the largest production of their careers.

With a relationship-driven, yet highly disciplined, business style, Markham expertly balances his career in leadership with his personal life, which includes spending time with his wife, Casey, and daughter, Eleanor. “Being present for family milestones, while driving professional growth, is incredibly meaningful,” he says. Passionate about spending time outdoors with his family, including hiking and fly-fishing, he enjoys traveling to the North Georgia Mountains and the western United States. In his words, these adventures keep him “disciplined, goal-oriented and connected to nature.”
