While Atlanta is working hard to provide better access to alternative forms of transportation in the future, Ponce City Market (PCM) is taking a step to make alternative options accessible now by providing their business tenants and apartment renters a shuttles service to and from the nearest MARTA rail station.

PCM is the area’s largest adaptive reuse project that is being reinvented as a vibrant community hub that will house the Central Food Hall, various shops, flats and offices, all while pointing back to the roots of its inception.

While only a small initiative, PCM officials say the shuttle service is a start and a transit option that could very well be copied. The service offers residents and employees a reliable, free means of avoiding a laborious walk to the nearest MARTA station or paying bus fare, while giving PCM the opportunity to flash its brand all over Midtown with every trip it makes.

“Through smaller initiatives, we hope to help to provide more transformative transportation options for Atlantans. Our city is on its way to doing some wonderful things and we’re looking forward to seeing and being a part of the progress,” said PCM.

While there is no word on route intervals, PCM officials indicate that there will be more than one shuttle. With only 1.3 miles to the North Avenue MARTA Station, it’s safe to assume that those who take the shuttle won’t be left waiting for long.

Early next year, PCM hopes to have several other sustainable options available for everyone to enjoy. PCM tells Altanans to be on the lookout for more car charging stations and even a bike valet.

PCM hopes their shuttles are able to make an alternative commute for tenants and residents more appealing and fun. They ask that if you see them out and about, snap a photo and use the hashtag #PCMintheATL so we can share your sighting.
