Beverly Carter

In honor of deceased real estate agent Beverly Carter, a Web developer is set to release BEVscore, a new safety app that locates and monitors peoples’ whereabouts.

Carter was a real estate agent who was murdered last year after showing a vacant bank-owned property in rural Scott, Arkansas. Designed by a family friend of the Carter’s, the BEVscore app uses GPS to track frequently visited locations and cross reference it with their profile. The app gives an overall BEVscore and rates if the user is trustworthy or not to meet. In addition, BEVscore alerts family and friends if something were to happen while meeting a new acquaintance.

Brenda Rhoads, Carter’s friend and managing broker at Crye-Leike, Realtors, in North Little Rock, hopes the app will make Realtors feel safer when showing homes to strangers.

“I don’t want Beverly’s death to be in vain,” she said.”If there’s just one person who comes out of this and realizes how important safety is, that’s the most important thing. Beverly would have wanted that.”
