Atlanta’s housing market remained tight as a tick in February, Atlanta REALTORS® Association reported.
Housing inventory fell 15.2% year over year to 6,095 units, representing a 0.9% month supply, while new listings totaled 6,634 units, down 3.8% year over year and up 6.9% month over month.
Home sales totaled 5,073 transactions, a 15.2% surge from January but a 5% decline from February 2021, ARA reported, citing data from First Multiple Listing Service. The median sales price of $380,000 represented a 1.3% month-over-month gain and a 21.4% annual jump.
“Sellers are in the proverbial driver’s seat, but there is a growing gap in understanding about how some of the newer options for selling homes will impact the market long term,” Atlanta REALTORS® Association President Karen Hatcher said in a press release. “[Realtors] play a crucial role in educating sellers, and as advocates for home ownership and private-property rights, we should also be taking a seat at any table where community planning and development is taking place.”
The ARA report covers 11 metro-Atlanta counties: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Fayette, Henry and Paulding.
