Atlanta-area home sales exploded in terms of dollar volume in May, rising 42.4% month over month and 39.2% year over year to $4.36 billion.
The number of houses sold in May was 6,861, up 5% from April and down 10.1% from May 2022, Georgia MLS reported, citing its monthly housing snapshot.
The median sales price of homes sold was up 3.6% month over month and 20.6% year over year, at $409,400.
New listings in May totaled 9,224, a healthy 13.1% increase from April and a 4.5% increase from last May, while active listings jumped 16.1% month over month and 20.1% year over year to 7,379.
Georgia MLS’ 12-county report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
