Atlanta home sales gained steam month-over-month in August on both a per-unit and sales-volume basis, while the median sales price rose as well.
By unit, home sales rose 6.7% to 5,307 properties, Georgia MLS reported, citing its 12-county Housing Market Snapshot. By dollar volume, sales came in at $2.59 billion, up 7.3% from July. On a year-over-year basis, however, the number and value of homes sold fell 15.6% and 10.7%, respectively.
The median sales price of homes sold in August was $404,000, up 1% from $400,000 in July and up 2.3% from $394,950 in August 2022.
New listings rose 2% month over month to 7,421. That was 15.6% below the year-ago level of 8,794. Active listings, meanwhile, were up 2.6% on a monthly basis and down 12.1% on a yearly one, at 10,927.
Georgia MLS’ 12-county report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
