The pace of home sales in the Atlanta area jumped in July on both a monthly and yearly basis after steep slides in June, according to the latest Georgia MLS 12-county Housing Market Snapshot.
By units, sales were up 5.1% month over month, from 5,035 homes sold in June to 5,291 homes in July. Year over year, sales were up 5.9% from 4,997 transactions in July 2023. By dollar amount, sales were up 9.5% month over month and 5.9% year over year, at $2.73 billion.
The median sales price of $415,000 represented a 3.7% dip from June’s $431,000 level and a 3.8% gain from the $400,000 level of July 2023.
New listings slid 4.6% month over month and surged 18.8% year over year to 8,646. Active listings, meanwhile, were up 2.4% on a monthly basis and 60.3% on a yearly one, at 17,081.
Georgia MLS’ 12-county report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
