What counties in Metro Atlanta saw the most housing activity in June?

As Atlanta Agent reported last week, residential sales in Metro Atlanta were very positive in June, rising 17.1 percent from May (the best monthly increase since 2011) and 9.5 percent from June 2015.

How consistent were those trends, though, at the county level? To find out, we took a closer look at the latest numbers from GeorgiaMLS and put together the following graphs.

First, here were Metro Atlanta’s top-selling counties in June:

Unsurprisingly, Fulton County saw the most total home sales in June, but its 13 percent year-over-year increase in sales was actually modest compared to how sales grew in other counties. Hall County, for instance, saw its sales jump 31.2 percent, while sales posted similar increases in Paulding (31.4 percent), Cobb (21.2 percent) and Gwinnett (30 percent).

The rankings shift a bit when you look at the counties with the most single-family sales:

Propelled by a 33.1 percent increase in sales, Gwinnett was easily in the No. 1 slot, though second-place Cobb also saw its sales rise 25.3 percent from last year. Other notable increases occurred in DeKalb (12.02 percent), Hall (30.7 percent) and Paulding (32.8 percent).

Finally, the rankings become quite lopsided when the condo/townhome market is examined:

Fulton, which includes 90 percent of the city of Atlanta, had more condo/townhome sales than DeKalb, Cobb and Gwinnett combined, and sales were still up 18.6 percent year-over-year. Third-place Cobb, though, did see its sales rise 23.6 percent.
