As passionate an agent as Atlanta has to offer, James McGowan of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties thrives on the simple fact that in real estate, professionals create their success by being just that – professional.

The son, nephew and grandchild of real estate agents, McGowan likes to say that the industry is, quite literally, “in (his) blood” – something that might explain his seemingly innate comfort for the lifestyle.

“Real estate agents wake up every day with a new challenge,” he says. “What’s not to love about having to go to work every day and see firsthand the results of your hard work?”

Though McGowan and his team tend to focus their business in Brookhaven, Buckhead, Dunwoody and Sandy Springs, he assures that through Georgia Properties, he is more than able to handle properties and clients all throughout the metro Atlanta area.  And it’s that same willingness to go above and beyond for his clients that sets him apart.

“All clients are notable and special, and that’s not just lip service,” he admits. “If you don’t feel that way, this business is not for you.”

It’s not a rat race for McGowan, who dismisses the notion of working for the paycheck. It’s an opportunity to commit and serve, to build a relationship with someone that transcends the homebuying or selling process, and blends into the territory of genuine friendship. It’s the strategy that helps McGowan generate the majority of his business from referrals.

“I hope I instill confidence in the people I work with,” he says. “It’s always my aim to become the trusted referral source for their real estate needs or inquiries.”

A 17-plus year Atlanta resident, McGowan is adamant in his belief that there’s something for everyone in the Dogwood City, and he’s excited to continue growing and prospering here with his wife of 11 years and two sons.
