Rachel Hudgins spent 15 years teaching and choregraphing dance before seeking a career change. Upon remembering how exciting it was for her as a child to stop by and “check in on a listing” with her uncle, she enrolled in real estate school.
“For whatever reason, it was at that moment that I wanted to sell houses,” says Hudgins, a Realtor with RE/MAX Pure. “I’m not sure if it was because I idolized my Uncle Stephen or if it was my love of houses, but here I am.”
While Hudgins built her real estate career, she also tended bar for about nine years, which allowed her the flexible hours she needed to work with clients while still earning a steady paycheck.
Hudgins assists a lot of first-time homebuyers in Paulding, Douglas, Haralson, Carroll, Polk, Cobb, Bartow and Cherokee counties. “We specialize in helping people who think they can’t buy a house or won’t qualify, work out a plan of action, to get them where they need to be, to purchase a home,” she says. “We have built a great team of professional affiliates that, with a little bit of determination and work, help us make the dream of homeownership come true for everyone.”
Hudgins, with her assistant Kayla Murray, formed a new team last year, working hard to develop a business model that would take them to the next level. “Fast forward to March 2018 and we added two agents and a second admin,” she says. “We experienced some growing pains along the way but as of September, we are now a five-agent team with two admins.”
When Hudgins began her business so many years ago, she never imagined that she would remain on the RE/MAX Georgia Top Producers list all year and, a few months ago, cross over to the RE/MAX Platinum Club — both of which were goals she set for herself in January 2018. She also is a member of the Cobb Association of Realtors and the West Georgia Board of Realtors.
“My proudest personal accomplishment, in the past year, is watching both of my children grow into adults,” Hudgins says. “To look at them and see what amazing individuals they have become is what makes me proudest.”
