Century 21 Real Estate is one of the largest realty firms in the world – and now it has a website to match that status.
The aptly-named century21global.com, which has been in operation for about a month, contains listings for all of the firm’s properties across the globe. The firm has listings in each continent except Antarctica, and according to Anju Chellani, Century 21’s senior director of digital marketing, the firm operates in 74 countries.
Chellani said several months of preparation went into creating the website, which she said was essential for the ever-growing global marketplace.
More and more, she said, people are buying properties in a country other than their native land, a process that can be hindered by language and currency barriers. The website, however, prevents any cultural inconsistencies from halting a transaction, Chellani said, adding that the site can translate information into 16 languages and can convert currencies if needed.
Separate, country-specific websites will still exist, but Chellani said there are benefits to having a centralized website for all of Century 21’s listings, especially for people looking to buy in an unfamiliar country that might regulate foreign buyers differently than domestic buyers.
“Most of the in-country websites are well suited to serve the consumers that are looking to purchase inside their country, but very few sites actually have information about foreign nationals buying property across borders,” Chellani said. “That’s why this global website was necessary: to give all consumers across borders those advantages, that convenience of looking in your own language, in your own currency, in your own units.”
