In an ongoing battle to reign supreme over real estate listings, Move today announced its split with Trulia.
And the blows keep landing.
In a continuing battle over listing dominance, ListHub, which is owned by Move. Inc, operator of realtor.com, announced today it was terminating its listing agreement with recent Zillow acquisition Trulia, and would soon discontinue services to the website.
How soon? Five days.
In the immediate wake of ListHub’s announcement, general manager Celeste Starchild began distributing letters to customers, notifying them of the forthcoming changes.
Trulia’s Listings Future in Limbo
In the address, Starchild admits ListHub’s decision was the direct result of Trulia’s joining the newly formed Zillow group.
The letter reads: “In accordance with the terms of the agreement between ListHub and Trulia, the acquisition means an end to the ListHub agreement with Trulia, and consequently, listings no longer will be provided to Trulia directly through the ListHub platform.”
In a statement to HousingWire, Starchild went on to reassure that ListHub “will continue to operate as the industry’s most trusted and reliable listing data exchange platform,” adding that the syndicator would continue servicing Zillow until April 7, as was previously agreed, despite its split with Trulia.
Trulia has yet to make an announcement to how it will supplement the lost data, but Starchild postulates in her letter that the company will likely be absorbed into Zillow’s current processes.
“We would assume that Zillow will add Trulia to its network in the same way that it acquired HotPads.com and made it part of the Zillow network,” the letter read.
Following ListHub’s announcement, Zillow Group filed a temporary restraining order in an effort to keep the data flowing.
In an accompanying statement, Trulia President Paul Levine criticized ListHub and NewsCorp, saying the decision to pull listings is likely to have more harm for brokers, agents and consumers.
“Through this sudden and unilateral decision to cut off the ListHub feed to Trulia, News Corp is creating an incredible hardship for agents and consumers, and is demonstrating a lack of understanding of our industry.”
Move did not immediately respond to phone and email requests for comment.
