In order to draw in new residents, apartment communities are adding in amenities that add value to the complex. In recent years, the amenities provided go beyond fitness centers, which are now considered a must-have to include features such as fire pits and pet services.
The National Apartment Association looked into the amenities that Atlanta apartment dwellers prefer and the top of the list were roof decks in terms of how much more they’re willing to pay for their apartment communities for the future.
Atlanta residents said they were willing to pay $58 more per month to have the amenity. The city also favored more community-based amenities versus individual amenities, such as stainless steel appliances.
The association looked at 13 different cities across the country and Atlanta was unique in the premiums paid for dog grooming areas and quartz countertops, which ranked second and third on Atlanta’s list and not appearing in the top 10 in other markets.
Although residents were willing to pay more than $50 per month for the top six amenities, they were offered in fewer than 15 percent of currently available apartment homes in Atlanta.
