GAMLS: Atlanta home sales remain brisk in January

Home sales in Atlanta remained strong in January after a solid showing in December 2020, according to Georgia MLS.

The 12-county metro region saw $1.72 billion worth of homes sold, representing a 26.1% jump from the $1.37 billion sold in January 2020.

While transaction volume was healthy, supply continued to be an issue for the market. Active listings plunged 54.5% year over year to 6,891 homes, and new listings were down 19.9%, at 6,372, according to the Housing Snapshot.

In all, 4,921 units were sold with a median sales price of $288,000 were sold in January, compared to 4,529 homes with a median sales price of $247,000 a year earlier.
