by John Yellig

Housing inventory in Atlanta remains in a straitjacket, with active listings falling 64.2% year over year to 5,602 in March, according to Georgia MLS’s monthly survey of the 12-county metro region.

March’s drop in active listings follows a similarly sharp decline in February, when active listings were down 56.9% year over year.

Meanwhile, sales activity continues to be robust, with sales volume rising 33.5% year over year to $2.80 billion, and units sold rising 13.9% to 7,446. The median sales price, meanwhile, is up 16.2% to $313,750.
