Construction of the 340-apartment NOVEL West Midtown by Crescent Communities is set to begin early this month, with availability slated for mid-2023.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Crescent Communities and financial backer MAA purchased the site, located at 1330 Fairmont Ave., in April, according to a press release.

The five-story, wood-frame complex will be located on the future Westside Beltline Trail and one mile away from the Westside Reservoir Park at Bellwood Quarry.

“The area continues to be one of the most sought-after destinations to live, work, and play, and we are excited to provide residents with a truly differentiated upscale living experience within this vibrant community,” Crescent Communities managing director Kyle Brock said in a statement.

A portion of the luxury units will be designated as affordable housing. The project is the seventh in the Atlanta area by Crescent Communities, which develops, owns and operates multifamily properties under the NOVEL brand.

Juneau Construction Co. is building the development, while Dwell Design Studio is serving as the lead architect, with additional work being performed by 505 Design. CID Design Group is the interior designer, and Dix.Hite Partners is the landscape architect.

Memphis, Tenn.-based MAA is a publicly traded real estate investment trust with ownership interests in more than 100,000 apartment units in 16 states and Washington, D.C.
