by John Yellig

Mark Spain Real Estate‘s metro Atlanta sales volume surged more than 85% in 2021 to bring the firm’s total closed sales for the year to $1.73 billion.

The Atlanta-based company’s total closings in Georgia grew 47%, and its metro Atlanta team rose to 164 agents. Altogether, Mark Spain ended 2021 with 354 agents, who closed an average of almost $10 million each in sales during the year.

Since its founding in 2016, the firm has seen “immense” growth in sales, which have risen more than 750%, from $443 million in its first year of operation to $3.3 billion in 2021, the company said in a press release, adding that it surpassed 10,000 closed sales for the first time in 2021 after booking 5,647 transactions the year before.

“From non-sales roles to listing agents to closing agents, we strive to put the best person possible in each role,” founder Mark Spain said. “We then give them the tools and ongoing support they need to do the best job in those positions. In fact, we provide our agents over 225 days of training per year from our in-house training department.”

In the six Southeast markets Mark Spain operates — Atlanta; Nashville, Tenn.; Charlotte` and Raleigh, N.C.; and Orlando and Tampa, Fla. — the firm saw healthy sales growth. It closed almost $500 million in sales in Charlotte, Raleigh and Nashville in 2021, with sales more than doubling in Charlotte and Raleigh and almost quadrupling in Nashville. The company expanded into Tampa and Orlando during the year.

“It was a year of tremendous growth for us, between more than doubling annual sales, surpassing the 10,000-closing mark for the first time and expanding into Florida,” President and CEO John Makarewicz said, attributed the year’s performance to the company’s Guaranteed Offer program, the growth of its team and a housing market boosted by low mortgage interest rates and strong growth in home values.
