Compass of Greater Atlanta makes leadership promotions as firm pursues expansion

by John Yellig

Compass of Greater Atlanta promoted two industry veterans as it works to increase its roster of agents locally and drive the brokerage’s growth in Georgia and North Carolina.

Managing director Martha Hayhurst was promoted to regional vice president for Georgia and North Carolina, and Chris Burell, who joined the firm in 2021, was promoted to managing director of sales and Georgia broker of record.

Hayhurst, who has been in the business for almost 40 years, will work with managing directors and sales managers in Georgia and North Carolina to build Compass’ presence in both regions.

“Every day, I am excited and honored to work with a team of professionals that serve our agents and community with so much heart,” Hayhurst said in a press release. “It is a privilege to be trusted with building Compass’ growth in Georgia and North Carolina.”

Burell, meanwhile, joined Compass of Greater Atlanta in July 2021 and brings almost 20 years of experience in Atlanta residential real estate. In his new position, Burell will spearhead the recruitment of Compass agents, as well as the company’s expansion in Georgia.

“The key to Compass’ success has always been an intentional focus on the client-agent relationship,” Burell said. “I look forward to working with our agents to develop a new level of service for our clients across the state.”
