Atlanta ranks among best cities in the world

by Emily Mack

Atlanta came in at No. 50 in this year’s 2023 World’s Best Cities Report, a comprehensive annual study by Resonance Consultancy.

Looking beyond tourist appeal, this ranking takes many factors into account. Among them: infrastructure, nature, the arts, entertainment, culture, diversity and business prosperity. And Atlanta fared well.

The report highlighted Atlanta’s rich history as a “progressive beacon” — an identity which has made a comeback in recent elections. Citing Atlanta’s blue flip in 2020, the report states that 200,000 new residents have moved to the city in the past year alone. Compared to all cities in the world, Atlanta now ranks No. 11 on Google searches.

Atlanta is also home to many Global 500 companies — the city is No. 31 in that regard — and is currently planning a slate of redevelopment projects aimed at revitalizing downtown. Meanwhile, public historic areas, including Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, are being updated with a renewed focus on walkability.

The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is also being modernized as part of a multi-billion-dollar project, ATL Next.

According to the rest of the report, the best 10 cities in the world include:
1. London
2. Paris
3. New York
4. Tokyo
5. Dubai, United Arab Emirates
6. Barcelona, Spain
7. Rome
8. Madrid
9. Singapore
10. Amsterdam
