What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I was a voice over personality for radio and voice over commercials.
Where did you grow up?
I was born in San Jose, Costa Rica, and raised in Miami before relocating to Atlanta at 26 years old.
Growing up, what did you want to be?
I wanted to be an airline pilot. I still love planes and one day, I hope to become a helicopter pilot.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Normally I hang out with friends to disconnect from everyday tasks. We enjoy comedy clubs and concerts.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be?
Warren Buffet
What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret?
Nobody understands the amount of culture in the city, and the hidden restaurants are to die for!
What do you love most about the industry?
You never do the same thing every day. Each interaction you have will be different, and the amount of effort you put in really determines the outcome.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I take great ownership in my business. I don’t accept every opportunity, but I never let an opportunity pass by. This means that although I may not be the best fit for what you’re trying to accomplish, nine times out of 10, I know just the perfect person.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Seeing real estate agents fail due to lack of support and training. I speak to many agents every day, from in-person networking events to virtual meetings. One of the most difficult things for me to witness is a struggling agent. It’s almost an instinct of me to just provide them with the tools and say, “LETS GO!”
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
BE CONSISTENT! That’s it. Whichever strategy you decide to do for lead gen (cold calling, strategic marketing, social engagement, etc.), be consistent with it.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I just started watching a new show on Apple TV called Hijacked. I’m eight episodes deep and can’t wait for more!
What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta?
There are sooooo many, but I think I’d have to give the crown to Real Tacos!
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta?
The Westin Hotel downtown! The circular building is part of the iconic Atlanta skyline and has breathtaking views from the inside.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
A squatter was taking a shower in a vacant home when I went to show the property to a buyer. Needless to say, the tour was over pretty quickly.
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I had no intentions in making real estate a career. I went to school for TV/film and radio on-air talent. I stumbled into real estate because of my aunt, Marlene Bernasconi, who’s been in the industry for 25-plus years
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Miami. After living in Miami for 27 years, I do miss the Sunshine City. But after a week, bring me back home to Atlanta.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Observe like a sponge, sell it like Serhant.
What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
kvCORE Mobile. I can conduct my entire business from it if I choose to. It’s accessibility is great!
Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
Mauricio Umansky, Ryan Serhant, Elon Musk
What are your social media handles?
@therealchrispi for all social media
