GAMLS: Atlanta home sales drop in September

Atlanta home sales slowed month-over-month in September on both a per-unit and sales-volume basis, while the median sales price dipped.          

By unit, home sales fell 16.9% to 4,496 properties, Georgia MLS reported, citing its 12-county Housing Market Snapshot. By dollar volume, sales came in at $2.14 billion, down 18.6% from August. On a year-over-year basis, however, the number and value of homes sold fell 21.9% and 17.9%, respectively.        

The median sales price of homes sold in September was $395,000, down 2.2% from $403,990 in August and up 2.3% from $386,000 in September 2022.          

New listings fell 6.2% month over month to 6,964: down 13.3% year over year from 8,035. Active listings, meanwhile, were up 6.8% on a monthly basis and down 11.5% on a yearly one, at 11,667.          

Georgia MLS’ 12-county report includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding and Rockdale counties.
