Jim Chapman Construction Group recently wrapped up construction of The Cottages at Southampton, a new build-to-rent community with 250 townhomes in Hampton.  

Horizontal construction began in April 2021, vertical construction started in March 2022, and leasing kicked off in November 2022. Jim Chapman Construction worked closely with city officials on the project, which is owned by an institutional investor, according to a release.  

“Our partnership with the city of Hampton, including Mayor Ann Tarpley, City Manager Alex Cohilas, and the Planning and Zoning team led by Wanda Moore, was instrumental,” President Jim Chapman said. “Their forward-thinking approach and understanding of our value to the community were pivotal in realizing The Cottages at Southampton.” 

Located at 100 Cottage Way, the community spans 50 acres and offers five floorplans ranging from 1,020 to 1,466 square feet. Unit amenities include granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances and options for a one- or two-car garage. Community amenities include a clubhouse, swimming pool, fitness center and onsite property management.
