Shani Vardy Real Estate Agent

Method Real Estate Advisors

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I was in wholesale fine jewelry in New York City for 8 years.
Where did you grow up?
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. (Moved to Atlanta 5 years ago.)
Growing up, what did you want to be?
I wanted to be the best. 🙂
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
Get in the car and go for a drive, listening to good music!
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Ryan Serhant. He started off with absolutely nothing and created a successful real estate empire. He is the epitome of a people person and just an inspiration!
What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret?
The culture! I think people here don’t realize there is so much culture, from African dancing to the little hidden farmers markets where they sell food from around the world. There is so much diversity here, and being a world traveler, I appreciate that soooo much!
What do you love most about the industry?
The people! The connections! I love the agents, my clients, I thrive on talking to strangers, and this career allows me to do that every day. And of course the best part is that I get to help people!
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
I’m not scared of anything, and I love to be different and be myself. I think a lot of agents look to others for inspiration and guidance and lose track of who they are and what sets them apart. I live and breathe real estate and helping people and make connections with everyone from all walks of life.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Family-work balance. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to balance it proportionately.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Be yourself! Talk to everyone you see! And nurture your previous clients.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I watch a lot of crime documentaries. l love to problem-solve!
What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta?
Vas Greek restaurant in Roswell, as well as the Biltong Bar in Ponce City!
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta?
Hands down, the Swan House!
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
I handle strange situations very well, so nothing at this point makes me feel uncomfortable. But I would have to say that one time I was meeting a new client at a house, we chatted, I showed the house, and when we walked out, the actual client arrived! Both had the same name! The second client didn’t like the house, but the person I met by accident loved it, and we went under contract. (His agent never showed up.)
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I had and survived cancer.
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Aruba. My family lives all over, and once a year, we all meet up in Aruba for a family vacation, so I hold it near and dear to my heart. Of course, the beaches are unmatched!
What is your favorite city after Atlanta?
New York City! That was my playground as a teen and later on as an adult. It’s the city that made me street smart, and I am forever grateful for the experience.
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Don’t take things personally.
What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
My company app and Forewarn to screen clients I have not met before.
Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
I follow and support my fellow real estate agents! There are so many I look up to, even here in Atlanta.
