Matthew Thaxton Realtor

Keller Williams Realty Community Partners, Cumming

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
Working in telecom.
Where did you grow up?
Milton
Growing up, what did you want to be?
I wanted to be a Realtor.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I head to the beach or unplug and go out by my pool and soak in nature and the sun with my doodles.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
The cast of Million Dollar Listing LA. I think they are awesome and are well known in the industry and could provide good conversations on how to continue to grow my business and be the go-to, best luxury agent in the Atlanta area.
What is Atlanta’s best-kept secret?
How amazing the North Georgia mountains are, right here in our own back yard. There are so many mom-and-pop shops and places to eat, great hikes to beautiful waterfalls and amazing views.
What do you love most about the industry?
I love the freedom of being a business owner and calling all the shots on how to do my business to best take care of my clients.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
By going above and beyond for my clients to get the job done, being available when my clients need me to be to make the process of buying or selling a seamless process.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
The most difficult aspect is working with agents who are new in the business who do not have proper training or, on the flip side, agents who have been in the business a long time and think they know it all. We can all work together and teach others things in a nice manner.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Take care of your clients. Put yourself out to meet new people. Make yourself stand out and be known. A word-of-mouth referral is the absolute best compliment.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I love a good Netflix show, and I can get hooked on reality TV. I’m not a big reading person.
What’s your favorite meal in Atlanta?
A cute little mom-and-pop restaurant in Cumming called Marie’s Deli. Its a locally owned Italian restaurant.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Atlanta?
Ponce City Market.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
I am not sure that is appropriate to share. Let’s just say listing agents need to make sure sellers are aware of showings and they let EVERYONE know who lives in the house.
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
That I was adopted twice, and I didn’t attend any kind of college or trade school.
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Laguna Beach, Florida. It’s a short drive, it’s a quiet little town with great local food spots and beautiful beaches.
What is your favorite city after Atlanta?
Blue Ridge
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Get as much training as you can! Be a shadow!
What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
Canva
Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
Josh Flagg, Tracy Tudor
What are your social media handles?
@thaxtonandco
