Kirk Malmberg, the president of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, has retired. Malmberg took on the role in 2021 after working at the bank for 20 years. Malmberg’s retirement is effective Dec. 31, when he will be succeeded by Reginald O’Shields.
Since joining the bank in 2003, O’Shields has served in a variety of roles, including senior attorney, senior vice president, executive vice president and, most recently, chief legal and compliance officer. He holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt University and a B.A. in economics from Furman University.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead FHLBank Atlanta,” O’Shields said. “I am thankful for the board’s confidence and Kirk’s leadership, and I look forward to partnering with our talented team to deliver on our mission and ensure we remain a reliable source of liquidity and strength to serve our members and communities.”
“We are fortunate to have an exemplary internal leader to transition to the role of president and CEO,” FHLBank Atlanta Board Chairman Thornwell Dunlap said. “Reggie brings a strong record of accomplishment and depth of knowledge about the bank and FHLBank System that will serve our members and communities well.”
