Jim Chapman to become NAHB chairman in 2029

by John Yellig

Jim Chapman, CEO of Jim Chapman Construction Group, was elected as 2026 third vice chairman of the National Association of Home Builders during the trade group’s International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Florida.

NAHB’s senior officers serve on a multi-year leadership ladder, which means Chapman will become chairman of NAHB’s Board of Directors in 2029.

“Our focus in 2026 is to address America’s housing affordability crisis and promote policies that will provide affordable rental housing and homeownership opportunities for hard-working American families,” said Chapman. “Specifically, we will be calling on the White House and Congress to remove regulatory barriers that are raising the cost of housing and preventing builders from increasing the nation’s housing supply.”

Chapman is a lifetime board member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and served as the association’s 2018 president. He also served as president of the Home Builders Association of Georgia in 2020 and 2021.

At NAHB, Chapman has chaired the 55+ Housing Industry Council, Single-Family Builders Committee, Land Development Committee and BUILD-PAC. He most recently served on the Federal Government Affairs and the budget and finance committees. He also serves as a BUILD-PAC trustee and as an NAHB Georgia State Representative.

Atlanta-based Jim Chapman Construction is a build-to-rent general contractor that’s been in business since 1998. It is licensed as a general contractor in six southeastern states and Indiana. To date it has completed 3,900 homes, 5,000 lots and 18 amenity complexes.
